OTHER SOURCES: The Iowa Hardcore Website

Anybody who knows me (Dan OlderMusicGeek) knows that I am a huge fan of punk rock. My favorite Iowa band is the underrated pop punk outfit, Lipstick Homicide.

So I was superexcited when I stumbled upon this site! Unfortunately, by the time I found it, it was already defunct.

But from 2010 to 2013, it presented to Iowans, and the world, the various punk bands from out state! It covered 16 bands in the time it ran. And with free downloads that you can still get!

And then for their swansong, they put together a compilation albums featuring Iowa punk music going as far back as the 80s!

So if you're into punk or hardcore music, then this is definitely a website you want to check out!

"Everybody seems to get that Kate, Luke and Rachel write great songs and put on a fun and unpredictable live show. I agree. But I'd like to add something else that maybe doesn't get noticed as often as it should: They're also awesome musicians. Kate is a classic shredder, Luke could hold his own in Lifetime circa Hello Bastards and Rachel, I would argue, is one of the best punk rock bass players active today. She's crazy in the pocket, plays cool fills worthy of an old-time Motown session bassist, and does it all while fronting the damn band. I don't know what the future holds for them, but whatever it is, I hope they all keep making music, whether together or apart. I don't really like pop-punk that much anymore, except when I'm listening to Lipstick Homicide."
